Commission FAQs
My process, costs, and commission timeline is outlined here. This information is for transparency and to offer a general sense of what to expect when working with me - not to enforce rigidity!

Below is the process for One Original Collaborative Graphic Illustration:
Initial meeting & visioning: We will get to know one another and build a shared vision for the piece. At this stage, I will inquire about: image sizing, color schemes, inspiration or reference photos, what feelings and messages you’d like the art to convey.
Sketches: I will provide 1-3 sketches with proposed compositions and concept descriptions. I will request feedback, and, if applicable, ask you to select your favorite sketch composition for the final.
Final sketch (if revisions are requested): I will share a final sketch that has been updated to incorporate any feedback from the previous stage. Once you approve the sketch, I will add color and detail for the final piece.
Final piece: I will provide the final illustration in the format initially requested!
-
For organizations and institutions: I follow Forward Together’s Building Irresistible Movements Best Collaboration Practices for Organizations and Visual Artists and their fee structure for illustrations based on organizational budget.
For individuals: For projects requiring less than 10 hours and limited collaboration (ie. an illustrated replica of a reference photo), my rate is $65 / hour. If your piece will require more time + collaboration, I offer sliding-scale flat-rate costs.
Please let me know if cost is a barrier. I am open to negotiating rates, especially when my art may be used in service of grassroots movement-building. I’m also interested in alternative compensation models, like time-banking and trades. Let’s explore together!
-
I prefer to allot 4-8 weeks for each commission. The process outlined above can be adjusted based on project scale and speed.

Most of my digital art is drawn on my iPad using the Procreate app. When I am using traditional media, I love colored pencil, markers, and collage.
